Fireplace Finished

Chuck has finished all of the stone surrounding the fireplace, making a beautiful feature wall. Isn’t it gorgeous?

DSC_0218The wall is a white quartz called Norstone. I love how the irregular blocks catch the light and cast dramatic shadows. And on the floor is a slab of Caesarstone quartz. It’s dark in this picture, but it’s a color called Wild Rice:

It coordinates beautifully with the hardwood floors and stone throughout the rest of the space. The interior of the house is 99% done, and stay tuned for more pictures!

Habitat for Humanity

I’ll have some more posts of our house soon, but in the interim, Chuck has many other projects going on. He donated cabinets and installation for three Habitat for Humanity homes in San Luis Obispo recently. San Luis Obispo County is stunningly beautiful with fantastic year-round weather, but it’s also one of the least affordable places to live in the US. The Housing Affordability Index, a national measurement of theĀ percentage of households that can afford to purchase the median priced homeĀ here, is 30% in SLO County compared to 60% for the US as a whole. That’s why it’s so great that three deserving working families are now living in brand new houses in part through Chuck’s efforts!
